The Heart Behind Baiame

Baiame by Kahi was created in memory of our beautiful son, Kahi - a boy with a kind heart, a quick wit, and creative spirit that touched everyone who knew him. He loved to skate, surf, dance, design, draw and make people laugh. He was proud of his culture and his connection to Country, something that continues to guide everything we do.

But behind his smile, Kahi was struggling with his mental health. Like so many families, we reached out for help again and again - through public and private systems, hospitals and community services. What we found was a system that was too stretched, too slow and disconnected.

Instead of care, we met a process. it felt like a box-ticking exercise - being passed from one service to the next with no follow-up and no genuine support. Kahi was crying out for help, but every door led to another wait list, another phone number and another promise that never came.

When Kahi lost his life to suicide, our world fell apart. But from that heartbreak, a new purpose began to take shape.

 

We created the Kahi Simon Fund to raise awareness and drive change. Supporting projects that close the gaps, like the Evolve Wellness Hub, a welcoming space for support, connection, advice, referrals and respite for anyone facing mental health challenges. It provides a safe space to talk, with the option of just having a cup of tea and a conversation.

Baiame is part of this vision. It represents creation and healing a symbol deeply rooted in culture and spirit and in Kahi's love for both. 100% of Baiame profits are directed into the Kahi Simon Fund
